I’m working with a well-regarded national firm looking to add a Senior Associate into their Employment team in the North East. This is a genuinely strong team – sizeable, well-structured and busy – acting for a mix of major corporates, financial services clients and organisations in the health sector. There’s a good blend of contentious and advisory work, and plenty of scope to get involved in more complex matters.
The role: You’ll be stepping into a varied caseload with a mix of:
- Employment Tribunal and High Court litigation (discrimination, whistleblowing, breach of contract)
- Day-to-day advisory work for employer clients
- Support on larger projects like restructures, redundancy exercises and TUPE (including multi-jurisdictional elements)
- Some involvement in supervising juniors and contributing to team development
- Client-facing work, including training and general relationship management
There’s also the chance to get involved in some high‑profile, large‑scale litigation work which keeps things interesting.
What they’re looking for:
- Around 5+ PQE in employment law
- Solid experience handling tribunal matters and contentious work
- Ideally some exposure to financial services or large commercial clients (not essential)
- Someone commercially minded who’s comfortable dealing directly with clients
- A team player who’s happy to get involved beyond just the day job
Why it’s worth a look:
- Established and well‑respected employment team with a strong pipeline of work
- Good mix of quality contentious and advisory matters
- Clear structure and support, but with room to take ownership
- Genuinely collaborative culture across offices in the North
