About our client
We are acting on behalf of a highly regarded Manchester law firm with a long-standing reputation in the local market. With deep-rooted relationships across the SME community and a strong commercial client base ranging from owner‑managed businesses to larger limited companies, the firm has built a practice founded on genuine partnership with its clients. This is a firm that punches above its weight and continues to grow — and now seeks an exceptional employment lawyer to lead and develop its Manchester employment offering.
The opportunity
This is a genuinely exciting leadership role. You will take ownership of the employment practice in Manchester, driving both client development and the quality of service delivered to an established and varied client base. The firm offers a clear route to partnership for the right candidate (if not direct access depending on experience), and there is real scope to shape the direction of the team. You will advise HR teams and boards of corporate clients on the full range of employment law matters, as well as handling Employment Tribunal litigation. You will also play a mentoring and managerial role for more junior members of the team, reporting into the firm's Head of Employment.
What we're looking for
- 10 or more years' post‑qualification experience in employment law
- A proven track record advising corporate clients — both HR teams and boards — on contentious and non‑contentious employment matters
- Strong Employment Tribunal litigation experience
- An established network of business and professional contacts in the Manchester area
- A client following, or a demonstrable ability to attract and retain clients
- The commercial acumen and personal drive to develop the brand further
- Some appetite for team leadership and developing junior colleagues
What's on offer
- Competitive salary with a firm‑wide fee‑earner bonus scheme
- Hybrid working — up to 2 days per week from home
- A clear and genuine path to partnership for the right candidate
- The platform of an established, respected firm with a loyal client base
