Senior Employment Counsel

Our client is a well-established, international business with a strong market position and a collaborative, commercially focused legal team. They are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and operate across the UK.
The in-house legal function is well-regarded internally and works closely with senior leadership across the business on a wide range of matters. This is a business that takes its legal and people-related obligations seriously and invests in quality advice.
The Opportunity
This is a senior, part-time in-house role created specifically around flexibility, autonomy and meaningful employment law work. It is a genuine opportunity for an experienced employment lawyer to operate at a senior level without compromising on the quality or influence of the work.
Reporting to a senior member of the leadership team, you will be the lead employment law specialist for the business β advising on employment law, people-related legal risk and organisational matters, and working alongside an established group of commercial lawyers in a supportive, collaborative environment.
The Role
Working closely with senior leaders and the People function, your responsibilities will include:
- Advising on employment law matters, employee relations, policies and related legal risk across the business
- Supporting policy development, employment documentation and organisational design
- Embedding clear, practical employment law advice into business decision making at a senior level
- Instructing and liaising with external counsel where specialist support is appropriate
- Acting as a trusted and pragmatic advisor to senior stakeholders on sensitive legal and people-related matters
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will need:
- To be a qualified solicitor in England and Wales with at least 5 years PQE in employment law
- Strong experience across a broad range of advisory employment law matters
- The confidence and credibility to advise at senior leadership level on sensitive and complex issues
- A pragmatic, commercial and solutions-focused approach
- In-house or regulated financial services experience would be an advantage but is not essential
