The Opportunity
This is a genuinely different kind of associate role. Rather than a broad caseload across multiple clients, you'll work as a dedicated resource embedded within a structured delivery model for one of the firm's most significant client relationships. That means deep sector knowledge, strong client relationships, and real clarity around your work — without sacrificing the support, development, and infrastructure of a major national firm.
We're looking for two Real Estate lawyers with at least 3 years PQE up to senior level, and the role offers real flexibility: primarily home-based, with at least two days per month in the Leeds office, plus some initial in-person training and occasional visits to meet the client in London.
The Team
The Leeds Transactional Real Estate team is one of the largest and most highly regarded in the region — Tier 1 ranked, and Real Estate Team of the Year at both the Yorkshire Property Insider Awards and Yorkshire Lawyer Awards.
What You'll Be Doing
- Day-to-day, you'll manage your own caseload under appropriate supervision, with a focus on commercial landlord and lettings work, including:
- Drafting and negotiating commercial leases — new, renewal, and reversionary
- Ancillary lettings documents: licences to alter, rent deposit deeds, and similar
- Responding to tenant due diligence enquiries, liaising with professional advisors
- Handling letting and management applications (licences to assign, underlettings, deeds of variation, etc.)
- Managing completion processes, post-completion administration, and billing
- Supervising junior lawyers and paralegals
You’ll also have direct client contact, contribute to precedent development and shared best practice, and manage your own financials including WIP, billing, and write-offs.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years PQE in commercial property in England & Wales
- Someone at the more senior level looking for more flexibility around their work/life balance would also be suited
- Experience advising institutional landlords is a strong advantage
- Comfortable managing high-volume, fast-paced workloads in a process-driven environment
- Confident using legal technology tools and open to embracing new ways of working
- Strong communicator with a commercial, client-focused mindset
Why This Role?
This isn't a conventional solicitor position. The dedicated client model gives you a clarity of focus and depth of relationship that's rare in private practice — while the firm's scale means you're never without support, training, or career development. If you're looking for an alternative to the unpredictability of a broad caseload, without stepping away from high-quality work, this is worth a conversation. We welcome applications from lawyers of all backgrounds. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.
