We’re working with a highly regarded, Legal 500 ranked commercial firm in Leeds that’s looking to bring in an experienced Contentious Probate Lawyer at Legal Director or Partner level. This is a genuinely interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys high-quality work but also wants the autonomy to shape and grow a team.

The role involves running a varied contentious probate caseload, including:

  • Proprietary estoppel claims
  • Inheritance Act claims
  • Disputes around validity and interpretation of wills
  • Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975

Leading and developing a small but busy team:

  • 1 experienced Solicitor
  • 1 Apprentice Solicitor
  • 1 Paralegal

Working closely with strong commercial litigation and private client teams across the wider firm.

The firm is a well-established Legal 500 practice with a strong reputation in the Leeds market, featuring a small, close-knit team that’s growing year on year, low staff turnover, and a genuinely supportive culture. It is commercial in outlook but very approachable, consistently punching above its weight in terms of quality of work.

About you: You should have around 7+ years’ PQE in contentious probate, be comfortable handling complex disputes and supervising others, and be keen to step into a more senior, strategic role with real input into growth.
