Criminal/Corporate Defence Solicitor | 1–3 PQE | Leeds
Looking to take your criminal law experience in a different direction?
If you’ve built your experience in Legal Aid criminal defence and are curious about what comes next, this could be worth a look.
A well-regarded law firm in Leeds is looking to add a Solicitor to its established Corporate Defence team, offering the chance to develop your experience in privately funded criminal work and white-collar crime.
It could suit a Duty Solicitor or criminal defence lawyer who enjoys the work but wants to broaden their experience, get involved in more complex cases and build a long-term career in a different area of criminal law.
The role
You’ll work alongside experienced lawyers on a varied caseload of criminal and corporate defence matters, with the opportunity to develop your own caseload and take on greater responsibility as your experience grows.
There’ll be plenty of client contact, interesting work to get stuck into and the chance to play a part in the continued development of the team.
What they're looking for
- A qualified Solicitor with around 1–3 years’ PQE.
- A solid grounding in criminal law and criminal defence.
- Experience in Legal Aid crime, ideally including duty solicitor work.
- Confidence managing cases and dealing directly with clients.
- An interest in privately funded criminal defence and white-collar crime.
- Someone personable, commercially aware and keen to keep developing.
You don't need to have already made the move into corporate defence. A strong criminal defence background and the right attitude to learning are what matter here.
What's on offer?
- Alongside a competitive salary, the benefits package includes:
- Flexible working hours.
- Bupa/Medicash healthcare benefits.
- Discretionary bonus opportunities.
- Pension, life insurance and income protection.
- 25 days’ annual leave, plus flexible bank holidays, increasing with service.
- The option to buy up to 10 additional days’ leave.
- Two additional My Days, plus further discretionary leave.
- Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave.
- Career development opportunities and 24/7 employee assistance support.
