A well-established, career-focused further education college in the West Midlands is looking to appoint an experienced Sous Chef to join its professional catering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented chef looking to move away from the unsociable hours often associated with hospitality while still working in a varied and rewarding kitchen environment. You'll primarily be based in the college's popular bistro, while also supporting other catering outlets across campus, working alongside experienced chefs and helping to develop the next generation of hospitality professionals.

The Role

  • Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality food across the college's catering outlets.
  • Work within the college's training kitchen, supporting and encouraging catering students.
  • Assist with external functions and VIP catering events when required.
  • Maintain excellent food hygiene, health and safety, and kitchen standards.
  • Help manage stock, ordering and food preparation while contributing ideas for menus and service improvements.

What do you need?

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior kitchen role.
  • A passion for producing high-quality food in a professional environment.
  • A positive and supportive approach to working alongside students.
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • A full UK driving licence, with willingness to tow a catering trailer to external events where required.
