A well-established further education college is looking to strengthen its apprenticeship team with experienced Plumbing professionals who are passionate about developing the next generation of tradespeople. There are currently three opportunities available, offering a mixture of permanent, part-time and temporary work.

  • Full-Time Plumbing Lecturer – Permanent
    Salary: £31,795 per annum
    Market Supplement: £5,000
    Hours: Full time
  • Plumbing Skills Coach – Permanent
    Salary: £31,795 per annum Pro rata
    Hours: 22 hours per week
    A £5,000 market supplement is attached to the permanent vacancies, subject to the college's applicable terms.
  • Plumbing Lecturer – Temporary
    Hours: Full time
    Pay: £30.00 per hour

These roles would suit experienced Plumbing professionals who enjoy supporting apprentices, sharing their industry knowledge and helping learners progress successfully through their apprenticeship.

The role
Depending on whether you join as a Lecturer or Skills Coach, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing appropriate support, information and guidance to a caseload of Plumbing apprentices.
  • Delivering high-quality coaching, mentoring, teaching, learning and assessment across apprenticeship programmes.
  • Regularly reviewing and monitoring apprentice progress using the college's online e-portfolio system.
  • Supporting apprentices to complete all elements of their programme and progress successfully through gateway and End Point Assessment.
  • Maintaining excellent working relationships with employers and ensuring they understand and fulfil their responsibilities within the apprenticeship.
  • Individualising programmes to reflect the needs of apprentices and employers, ensuring learners develop relevant industry knowledge, skills and behaviours.
  • Embedding maths and English naturally within apprenticeship delivery.
  • Participating in standardisation, quality improvement and wider curriculum meetings.
  • Contributing to the continued development and high-quality delivery of apprenticeship programmes.
  • Working alongside the employer engagement team to identify potential new apprentices and employer opportunities.

What we're looking for

  • Plumbing Skills Coach
    To be considered as a strong candidate, you should have:
    • A Level 3 Plumbing qualification.
    • An assessing qualification.
    • Previous experience assessing Plumbing apprentices or learners.
    • Strong occupational knowledge of the Plumbing industry.
    • The ability to manage a caseload effectively and maintain accurate learner records.
    • Confidence working with both apprentices and employers.
  • Plumbing Lecturer
    To be considered for the Lecturer opportunities, you should have:
    • A Level 3 Plumbing qualification.
    • A recognised teaching qualification.
    • Strong Plumbing industry knowledge and occupational experience.
    • The ability to engage and motivate apprentices from a range of backgrounds.
    • A commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and supporting successful learner outcomes.
