English Teacher – GCSE Resits (Sports Students)

Full Time | Permanent | Salary: £34,492 – £41,140

Think FE are proud to be working with an ambitious and supportive further education college in the Northamptonshire who looking for an enthusiastic English Teacher to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to teach GCSE English resits to students enrolled on Sports courses, helping learners build confidence, achieve qualifications, and progress into their next steps. The college is ideally seeking someone for a September start, although an earlier start can be accommodated for the right candidate.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering engaging GCSE English lessons to 16–19-year-old learners studying within the Sports department. The role will involve planning and delivering high-quality lessons, tracking learner progress, and supporting students to achieve positive outcomes in their English qualifications. The college is particularly interested in teachers who can build strong relationships with learners and adapt teaching approaches to engage students who may previously have struggled with English.

Who are we looking for?

Essential

  • Experience teaching GCSE English
  • Minimum of level 3 in English (A-Level), ideally a degree
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners with varying levels of ability
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
  • A recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one (PGCE, DTLLS, CertEd etc.)
  • Experience within a Further Education setting teaching 16–19-year-old learners
  • Experience working with lower ability groups and improving pass rates, or experience working with students in an alternative provision would be beneficial
  • PGCE, DTLLS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience supporting learners who may lack confidence or engagement in English
