Following continued investment in its facilities, technology and curriculum, the college is looking to appoint an experienced Curriculum Manager to lead its Maths provision. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious leader who is passionate about improving learner outcomes, supporting teaching staff and driving curriculum excellence.

The Role

As Curriculum Manager for Maths, you’ll take responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of the department, ensuring consistently high standards of teaching, learning and assessment across GCSE, Functional Skills and Level 3 Core Maths provision. Working closely with senior leaders, you will lead curriculum development, support staff performance, monitor learner progress and help shape an engaging curriculum that meets the needs of learners, employers and the wider community. The role also includes teaching responsibilities, contributing approximately 216 teaching hours annually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Maths curriculum to ensure excellent learner outcomes.
  • Manage, support and develop teaching and support staff.
  • Drive quality improvement through effective monitoring and intervention.
  • Lead curriculum planning, timetabling and resource management.
  • Monitor attendance, retention, achievement and progression.
  • Support recruitment, enrolment and learner engagement.
  • Build positive relationships with employers and external partners.
  • Contribute to self‑assessment, quality assurance and Ofsted readiness.
  • Deputise for the Director when required.
  • Deliver high‑quality teaching as part of the leadership role.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve within an agreed timescale).
  • Level 3 qualification in Maths or a relevant subject.
  • Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Experience teaching within Further Education.
  • Experience improving learner outcomes and curriculum quality.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
  • Passion for developing staff and supporting learner success.

Desirable

  • Degree in a relevant subject.
  • Experience developing new curriculum provision.
  • Knowledge of funding methodologies.
  • Experience working with employers and external partners.
  • Understanding of Higher Education within an FE environment.
