Job Title: Progress Coach (Temporary / Contract) Location: Reading Contract Type: Temporary / Fixed Term Hours: 37 hours per week Duration: From ASAP until end of November (or subject to extension) Rate: £15.00 per hour (plus 12.07% holiday pay) Role Overview You will lead whole‑class personal development / tutorial / PSHE sessions for a diverse student cohort across different study programmes. Your schedule will include up to 18 groups per week (varying in size and level). Key delivery topics include confidence‑building, resilience, personal, social, health and employability education (PSHE), and life skills. You’ll work closely with curriculum tutors, pastoral teams, and student support services to monitor progress, intervene where needed, and help learners stay on track. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging tutorial / personal development sessions across a range of student groups Provide one-to-one mentoring / coaching to at‑risk students Monitor attendance, behaviour, engagement and progress, escalating concerns where necessary Collaborate with staff to plan support interventions and progress reviews Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports of student engagement Promote a positive learning environment, building rapport and trust with learners Liaise with safeguarding teams, supporting student welfare and safeguarding concerns Person Specification / Requirements Essential Experience working with young people in a school, college, youth work, careers or support role Proven ability to coach, mentor, tutor or support students / clients Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to adapt to different group sizes, levels, and learning needs Commitment to equity, inclusion, and safeguarding Strong organisational skills and resilience Desirable Experience in further education / college settings Previous work in careers, counselling, or student support Qualifications in coaching, mentoring, or youth work Safeguarding & Compliance Appointment is conditional on an enhanced DBS check You will adhere to the college’s safeguarding / safer recruitment policies You must demonstrate a commitment to protecting the welfare of students Next Steps Once you’ve applied, one of our friendly further education consultants will give you a call to discuss this opportunity.
