Think FE are working with a well-established specialist further education college in the Northamptonshire countryside to recruit a Success Coach.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with young people and helping them overcome barriers, stay engaged with their studies and achieve their goals.

You’ll work closely with students on both a one-to-one and group basis, combining academic coaching with pastoral support and personal development. It would suit someone with experience in mentoring, coaching, student support, youth work or a similar environment who can build positive relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries.

As a Success Coach, you will:

  • Coach students individually and in groups to improve motivation, set achievable goals and monitor academic progress.
  • Deliver engaging personal development sessions covering areas such as healthy relationships, consent and safeguarding.
  • Monitor student attendance and engagement, following up where additional intervention or support is required.
  • Help students overcome barriers to learning and support those at risk of disengaging from education.
  • Provide pastoral and wellbeing support, referring students to appropriate specialist services when necessary.
  • Support students with employability and career development alongside the wider careers team.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum, wellbeing and support teams to improve student achievement and retention.

What we’re looking for – You’ll need:

  • GCSE Maths and English Language at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
  • Experience of mentoring, coaching, student support or working with young people.
  • An understanding of student engagement and the barriers that can affect participation and achievement.
  • Awareness of safeguarding and the importance of maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • The ability to work effectively with students from a range of backgrounds, including SEND learners and those who may be at risk of disengagement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to build positive, professional relationships.
  • Experience within further education would be useful, but candidates from other education, youth, mentoring or support environments with transferable experience are also encouraged to apply.

Why consider this opportunity?

You’ll be joining a supportive specialist college with an impressive rural campus and a strong focus on helping students develop both academically and personally. The college invests in staff development and provides an environment where pastoral and student-support colleagues can make a visible difference to learner outcomes.

The wider employment package includes:

The wider employment package includes a generous annual leave entitlement, Local Government Pension Scheme membership, professional development opportunities, wellbeing support, staff discounts, discounted on-site facilities and free parking.

Checks

The successful applicant will be subject to the appropriate safeguarding and pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
