Think FE Ltd is working on behalf of an Ofsted‑rated Good further education college in Middlesbrough to recruit a dedicated Maths Lecturer, primarily to teach GCSE resits to 16‑19 year olds. This is a role that can be offered as temporary or permanent depending on the candidate.
You will:
Plan, deliver and assess engaging and effective lessons for GCSE maths resits and other mathematics provision as needed
Motivate learners aged 16‑19 who may have had interruptions in their learning, building their confidence and helping them make rapid progress
Support and monitor student progress, give feedback, and work with other staff to ensure high standards of achievement
Participate in departmental meetings, contribute to curriculum development, and support a culture of continuous improvement
Person Specification
We are ideally looking for someone who:
Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills (QTLS)
Has experience teaching GCSE mathematics resits, or teaching maths in an alternative provision or HMP setting. If not, then strong experience teaching GCSE maths in secondary schools may be considered
Is resilient, adaptable, and able to demonstrate strong communication and pedagogy skills in interview.
Has good classroom management skills and an ability to engage learners who may have had previously negative experiences of mathematics
