Think FE are working with a well-established and highly regarded college group in Berkshire that is recognised for its strong technical and vocational provision, excellent employer partnerships, modern learning facilities, and commitment to helping learners progress into successful careers.

We are seeking an experienced construction or building services professional to join the college as Head of construction, leading the strategic and operational delivery of the curriculum area. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious curriculum manager, programme manager, or experienced industry professional looking to step into a senior leadership role within further education.

The Role

As Head of Structural Technologies, you will provide leadership across the department, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and assessment whilst driving curriculum development and learner success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the Structural Technologies curriculum area with a focus on quality and performance
  • Implementing effective teaching, learning and assessment strategies
  • Monitoring learner progress, attendance and achievement
  • Supporting students identified as at risk of underachievement
  • Driving continuous improvement through the college's quality processes
  • Developing strong relationships with employers and industry stakeholders
  • Ensuring curriculum provision aligns with local skills priorities and labour market demands
  • Supporting staff development and maintaining high standards across the department

Who We’re Looking For

The college is particularly interested in candidates who have management experience and are ready to lead a curriculum area.

Essential requirements include:

  • Level 4/5 qualification in a relevant construction or building services discipline
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one
  • Strong understanding of BTEC and/or T Level qualifications
  • Experience managing teams, projects, or curriculum delivery
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and learner achievement processes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Please note that the college is looking for candidates with leadership or management experience and is not currently considering lecturers seeking their first management position.
