Think FE are proud to be recruiting for a respected college in Northamptonshire, who are looking for a reliable, hands-on Estates Support Officer to join their estates team. This role is essentially a caretaker/handyman position working across a large site — so you’ll be comfortable with practical tasks and ready to show initiative.
What will you be doing?
- Preparing and setting up the college site for events (furniture moving, rearranging rooms, signage, etc)
- Carrying out general site duties: refuse collection across the large campus and occasional duties at other local campuses
- Performing routine maintenance tasks: changing light bulbs, fixing leaky taps, minor carpentry/plumbing/electrical adjustments
- Escalating more complex issues promptly to the helpdesk
You will work as part of a team, supporting the Estates Manager and colleagues to ensure the site is safe, functional, and welcoming.
What will you need?
- Level 2 qualification in a trade (ideally electrical, plumbing or carpentry) or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in a similar caretaker/maintenance role
- Valid, full UK driving licence (essential) — the role involves travel on-site and to our satellite location
- Strong team-player attitude; ability to work independently when needed
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with military or disciplined-services backgrounds, as this experience has proven valuable in the role.
What’s On Offer
- £25,110 – £27,400 per annum
- 33 days’ annual leave
- Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) with 20% employer contribution
- Full support for you to obtain further trade qualifications you may want to pursue
- Monday to Friday working — with no on call rota or standby shifts expected
