Wirral Metropolitan College is looking for dedicated learning support assistants and carers to join their team on flexible timetables, starting in September. No classroom experience is required, just the right attitude and personality! Those who are calm, patient and supportive would do well in supporting students in this role.

These timetables are flexible, and can be worked around to suit both your needs and the needs of the learner you will be supporting.

What does my typical day involve?

  • You will be supporting students in class 1-to-1.
  • Supporting with schoolwork under teacher’s supervision.
  • Helping your learner understand instruction through a variety of means and encourages self-confidence and independence.
  • Identify signs of distress and offer reassurance.
  • Implement care programmes, as appropriate.
  • Help and encourage your learner to communicate.

What do I need?

  • Level 2 Maths and English (GCSE C/4 or international equivalent)
  • No prior experience needed – the team values potential and offers full support.

Role Details:

  • Contracts until the end of the academic year, with a strong possibility of extension or a permanent position for the right people.
  • Flexible hours, with an effort to meet your preferred timetable.
  • Many temporary staff secure permanent roles and some progress to PGCEs and teaching positions.
