Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive in a nurturing, structured environment? Thurrock’s specialist SEN schools are looking for committed, patient and proactive SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams. This SEN school caters for pupils aged 4–16 with a range of needs including ASD, SLD, MLD, PMLD, SEMH, communication needs and sensory processing differences. Every day is different, and every small step forward is a big win.

What you will be doing:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups with learning, communication and emotional regulation
  • Using visual supports, sensory strategies and structured routines
  • Assisting with personal care (where required)
  • Helping pupils access learning through differentiated activities
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and support staff
  • Creating a calm, safe and positive learning environment

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in SEN, care, youth work, mentoring, nurseries, or mainstream TA roles
  • A calm, resilient and nurturing approach
  • A genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
  • The ability to follow behaviour plans and work as part of a team
  • A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Ideal for candidates with experience or interest in: ASD, SEMH, SLD, MLD, PMLD, Non‑verbal communication, PECS, Makaton, Sensory needs, Behaviour support, Team Teach (training can be provided).
