Think Accountancy & Finance are recruiting for a Financial Analyst / Management Accountant to join an established finance team in Stoke-on-Trent. This is a varied, dual-purpose role combining management accounting with financial analysis, reporting and data interpretation across multiple business units. It would suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail behind the numbers and using data to support better commercial and operational decisions.

You’ll be responsible for preparing management accounts, commentary, KPIs and variance analysis, alongside margin and branch reporting. You’ll also support budgeting, forecasting and year-end audit activity. A key part of the role will involve analysing financial, sales, purchasing, stock and operational data, identifying trends, risks and opportunities, and producing clear reports and dashboards for both finance and operational teams. You will also have the opportunity to improve existing reporting processes, data quality and efficiencies, with regular involvement in ad hoc analysis and continuous improvement projects.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Part-qualified CIMA or ACCA status
  • Strong bookkeeping and accounting knowledge
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP
  • Power BI experience, particularly dashboard design and reporting
  • Experience working with large datasets and interpreting financial information
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A logical, analytical approach and strong attention to detail
  • Experience with Sage 200 and/or SQL would be advantageous.
