Audit Manager – Accountancy Practice Stoke-on-Trent / Newcastle-under-Lyme | ACA / ACCA Qualified Ready to take real ownership of an audit portfolio? If you're an experienced Audit Senior, or an ambitious Assistant Manager ready to make the step up, this is an opportunity to join a highly regarded independent accountancy practice at an exciting point of growth. Following a number of new client wins and continued investment in its audit offering, the firm is looking for an Audit Manager to become a key part of its established Corporate Services team. This isn't a role where you'll simply manage deadlines and review files. You'll have genuine ownership of your clients, work closely with approachable Directors, lead and develop members of the audit team and have the opportunity to influence how the department continues to grow. You'll work with an interesting and varied client base ranging from successful owner-managed businesses through to group companies and UK subsidiaries of international organisations. What will you be doing? You'll take responsibility for audit assignments from initial planning through to completion and Director sign-off, acting as a key point of contact for your clients throughout. Your role will include: * Managing a varied portfolio of audit clients from planning through to completion. * Leading statutory audits across owner-managed businesses, groups and UK subsidiaries. * Reviewing audit files and ensuring work is completed to a consistently high standard. * Working directly with Directors on more complex assignments. * Building strong, long-term relationships with clients. * Providing practical advice around processes, controls and wider business matters. * Managing workloads, deadlines and resources across your assignments. * Supporting, mentoring and developing Audit Seniors and trainees. * Playing an active part in the continued development and growth of the audit team. You'll also gain broader exposure across accounts and corporation tax, giving you greater insight into your clients than you may get within a larger, more departmentalised firm. What are we looking for? Ideally, you'll be: * ACA or ACCA qualified. * Currently working within an accountancy practice. * Experienced in leading and managing audits from planning to completion. * Confident reviewing work and managing client relationships. * Comfortable working with UK GAAP and statutory audit requirements. * Experienced with group audits or more complex assignments. * Someone who enjoys developing junior members of the team. * Commercial, organised and confident communicating directly with clients and senior stakeholders. Experience using PCase, CaseWare or IRIS Audit would be useful, but isn't essential. Already operating at Audit Manager level? Great. Currently an Assistant Manager who's ready for more responsibility and can demonstrate that you're already operating close to Manager level? We'd equally like to hear from you. Why consider this opportunity? * Genuine ownership of a high-quality audit portfolio * Direct access to Directors rather than layers of management * Exposure to groups, international subsidiaries and growing owner-managed businesses * Opportunity to help develop and mentor the audit team * Broader exposure across audit, accounts and corporation tax * Flexible approach around personal commitments where possible * Free on-site parking * Supportive, down-to-earth working environment * Long-term progression within a successful independent practice If you've reached the point where you're ready for more ownership, greater client exposure and the opportunity to make a genuine impact within an audit team, this could be a brilliant next move.
