Role Overview & Duties
The role will be equally split between Audit and Accounts. You will be working with clients from various sectors including manufacturing, retail and IT and regulated clients including solicitors and charities.
- Accounts
- Prepare year‑end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies in line with UK GAAP.
- Produce monthly or quarterly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis.
- Preparation of VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance across multiple client portfolios.
- Prepare tax computations for corporate and personal clients, working alongside seniors to ensure timely submissions.
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, resolve queries, and provide proactive accounting support.
- Plan and deliver audit fieldwork, including testing controls, balances, and transactions across a variety of clients.
- Prepare high‑quality audit working papers in line with audit standards, ensuring accuracy and clarity for review.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and relevant reporting standards.
- Liaise directly with clients to request information, resolve queries, and build strong professional relationships during on‑site and remote audits.
- Identify risks, issues and control weaknesses, reporting findings to seniors/managers and contributing to practical recommendations for improvement.
