This role is responsible for developing innovative, sustainable, and consumer‑focused packaging solutions that support our brand and product strategy. Working closely with Product Development, Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and external suppliers, you will lead packaging projects from concept through to launch and commercialization.
Responsibilities
- Packaging Development
- Lead the development of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging from concept through to launch.
- Deliver packaging solutions that are innovative, sustainable, and commercially viable.
- Ensure packaging meets performance, quality, safety, regulatory, and manufacturing requirements.
- Support packaging sustainability initiatives, including compliance with regulations such as EPR and Plastic Packaging Tax.
- Assess technical feasibility and manufacturing requirements to ensure successful product launches.
- Work closely with Product Development teams to ensure packaging and product compatibility.
- Project Management
- Manage multiple packaging projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with Creative, Marketing, Product Development, and Supply Chain teams throughout the development process.
- Identify and manage project risks and technical challenges.
- Supplier & Manufacturing Support
- Build strong relationships with packaging suppliers, printers, and manufacturing partners.
- Support line trials, filling trials, and product scale‑up activities.
- Review and approve packaging samples, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Support print approvals to ensure packaging meets brand standards.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and continuous improvement.
- Compliance & Documentation
- Coordinate packaging testing, including compatibility, functionality, and transit testing.
- Ensure packaging complies with all relevant quality, safety, regulatory, and sustainability requirements.
- Maintain accurate packaging specifications and technical documentation.
- Provide packaging data required for product and SKU set‑up.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Packaging, Packaging Technology, Packaging Design, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in packaging development within the FMCG industry.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, print processes, and packaging technologies.
- Experience managing packaging projects from concept to launch.
- Understanding of packaging sustainability and regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and packaging trials.
- Strong problem‑solving, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
