About Finance at THG
THG’s Finance department is a rapidly growing and evolving team, covering all areas of central functions such as Accounts Receivable and Payable, Treasury, Tax and Group Finance, to specific Commercial teams for each of THG’s divisions. Why be the Head of Financial Reporting at THG?
The Group is a listed business with increasing corporate governance and accounting requirements worldwide. You will be reporting into the Group Finance Director and support across our financial reporting and Group finance function. You will have a strong financial reporting skill base, able to support across UK and global compliance, lead the THG PLC Group audit along with supporting on one off projects as they arise. Sitting at a Group level, you will see all divisions of the business and work closely with our commercial teams, tax, treasury and investor relations, you will therefore be someone who is personable and keen to build strong relationships and networks across the business. You will have strong project management skills driving high quality deliverables on time. You will be part of the Group Finance team, reporting into the Group Finance Director and have a team of five reporting into you ranging from newly qualified to several years post qualified. In addition, you will gain exposure to senior stakeholders and the Senior Leadership team.
As the Head of Financial Reporting, you will:
- Head up our Group-wide compliance responsibilities, project planning and managing a team to deliver each workstream.
- Prepare technical management papers documenting accounting decisions made to be reported to the Board and Audit Committee.
- Be the key contact for the auditors, leading the team on the delivery of the THG Group audit, interim and other reporting requirements.
- Own relationships with specialist advisors.
- Review and deliver high quality financial statements compliant with IFRS.
- Opportunity to get involved with one off projects throughout the year.
- Constantly challenge the status quo on how we can improve controls across the Group, implement ideas and improvements to strengthen our financial controls.
- Lead the implementation of technology solutions to automate solutions and transform the processes.
- Direct and mentor junior members of the team.
- Build strong networks across the business, regularly liaising with the divisional teams, FP&A, legal and tax teams.
- Report to the Group CFO and Deputy CFO regularly on key issues.
What skills and experience do I need for this role?
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA) with 5+ years post qualified experience. Ideal role however for first time mover from practice.
- Understanding the principles of accounting and auditing, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and strong IFRS technical accounting experience.
- Experience of working with large corporate and/or listed businesses preferred.
- Strong communication skills as this will involve dealing with a wide range of stakeholders across the business.
- An individual who is keen to build strong networks.
- Understanding of financial controls framework, and process best practice.
- Experience working within a fast-paced environment.
- Planning and organisational skills with proven ability to meet deadlines is essential.
- A confident mindset, comfortable in dealing with a wide range of key stakeholders.
