Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Commercial Manager is instrumental in progressing product development and brand growth throughout the brand/product life cycle. They are an influential and proactive member of the Company, and work with support from the Directors. The Commercial Manager is responsible for leading, managing and developing an efficient, motivated team. Ensures & oversees that all team members follow and implement correct Company Systems, procedures and processes. Holds competent appraisals in line with Company Policy. Continually challenge and identify improvement possibilities for team and company where appropriate.

General Responsibilities

  • Set financial targets, margins, and budgets, making informed commercial decisions based on supplier negotiations.
  • Oversee sales pricing in Sage, customer liabilities, and approvals relating to NPD costing.
  • Identify and deliver cost saving opportunities and supports contract creation with the Commercial Director.

Customer, Supplier & Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Manage customer relationships, communicates strategic direction and pricing reviews, and ensures expectations are met.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, and collaborates with Purchasing & Packaging for effective sourcing.
  • Lead Post Launch Reviews and other key meetings to ensure smooth cross team alignment.

Operational & System Leadership

  • Provide direction on business system development, approving Commercial system/reporting requirements and using AI to enhance processes.
  • Resolve production issues through cost engineering and supports efficient S&OP processes.

People Leadership

  • Oversee recruitment and has final hiring decisions for the Commercial team.
  • Develop and trains the Commercial Assistant and models professional behaviour to promote a positive working environment.

Business Growth & Engagement

  • Proactively identify business opportunities and needs.
  • Communicate positively across teams and contributes to a collaborative, high performing Commercial function.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in commercial management and product life cycle oversight.
  • Experience leading and developing teams, including recruitment and performance management.
  • Strong background in customer, supplier, and manufacturer relationship management.
  • Experience managing financial targets, budgets, and pricing processes (including use of Sage).
  • Skilled in cross functional collaboration and meeting leadership.
  • Competent in system/process improvement and use of AI for continuous improvement.
