Binnies is seeking a highly experienced Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) professional to lead some of our most high-profile and dynamic projects—including nationally significant infrastructure developments. Our diverse portfolio spans flood risk management, coastal and maritime schemes, as well as key sectors such as water utilities, transport, and renewable energy.

One of the standout opportunities in this role is providing EIA leadership for the Development Consent Order (DCO) process for the South East Strategic Reservoir Option (SESRO)—a landmark 150 million cubic metre reservoir near Abingdon. This project aims to secure vital water resources, enhance biodiversity through new habitat creation, and deliver new leisure and recreational amenities.

At Binnies, you’ll join a close-knit, multidisciplinary environmental team that thrives on collaboration and innovation. We foster a vibrant Community of Practice and are proud to be at the cutting edge of environmental best practice, including digital EIA. Our professionals are empowered to shape projects that deliver smarter, more sustainable outcomes. We also hold the IEMA EIA Quality Mark—recognition of our commitment to excellence in EIA delivery.

About the Role

  • Managing all stages of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) including SEA and the range of other environmental assessments and consents such as HRA, DCO and planning.
  • Provide the reviewer and approver role for environmental deliverables; driving technical quality.
  • Supporting business development and tenders.
  • Providing line management and a mentoring role to members of the environmental team.
  • Supporting recruitment.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • An environmental related degree.
  • Chartered with a relevant professional institute.
  • A thorough understanding of EIA, sustainability and consenting (DCOs, planning, HRA, etc.).
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Excellent people skills and previous management/supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of commercial drivers of consultancy and ability to manage and work to programme and budget.
  • Experience in client facing roles and development of client relationships.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Previous consultancy experience.
  • Experience of construction stage delivery would be an advantage but not essential.

We would welcome applicants of Associate Director Level and above and we can flex salary based on grade and experience. Start date is flexible. Hybrid/flexible working is also available.
