So what are we looking for?
We are looking for a permanent Head chef required to work with supporting the Senior Head Chef and a team of junior chefs in a very hands-on role.
You will be executing the delivery of multiple events in a day.
We are seeking an individual who has a passion for food, who is organised and methodical in their approach, in addition to being a good problem solver and having the ability to logistically plan.
The right candidate will have a solid background in cooking at a high standard, ideally with previous Head Chef experience of another event catering company, large hotels or similar business models within the hospitality industry.
You should be a good communicator, who is competent at motivating and developing a large team of chefs, as well as communicating effectively across departments.
You will be based at our large Central Production Unit, where with support from the Senior Head Chef you will be responsible for the daily management of the kitchen.
Including ordering produce and supervising the preparation of dishes to a high standard before they are transported to venues across the South West and beyond for finishing and delivery to the client.
Our venues range widely from permanent sites and wedding venues, through to large marquees, office launches, and intimate dinner parties.
Duties and responsibilities
- Ensuring the smooth daily operation of the kitchen at the Central Production Unit.
- Facilitating effective communication between the chefs and the events team to ensure the seamless delivery of all events to an exemplary standard.
- Maintaining service and quality standards from food sourcing, through to production and delivery.
- Training staff in company processes and developing their cooking knowledge and technique.
- Ordering of stock, to reflect the level of business and deliver the budgeted food GP.
- Communicating with suppliers to ensure the finest quality produce is obtained for the best price and managing any shortfalls or quality issues.
- Managing the staffing resource effectively to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Producing daily prep sheets and allocating stock levels for preparation.
- Implementing dish specifications, to ensure consistency in quality, portioning, and cost.
- Overseeing the completion of food and health & safety due diligence recording to ensure that the business is fully compliant and maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and in the presentation of the team.
