Location: Highlands, Alness to Wick, Glasgow (two‑year programme), UK

Start Date: September 2026

Role Overview: Apprentice quantity surveyor working site and office based across the Highlands and Glasgow, supporting the Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) upgrade programme, which includes design and construction of new substations and overhead lines.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all costs relating to construction and civil engineering projects, from initial calculations to final figures.
  • Optimize project costs and enhance value for money while ensuring required standards and quality.
  • Work under the guidance of a workplace mentor and university apprenticeship tutor to develop technical and professional skills throughout the two‑year programme.

Qualifications:

  • National 5 Maths & English at grade A-C.
  • National Certificate in Built Environment, Foundation Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering, National Certificate in Civil Engineering, or One Higher.
  • For graduate apprenticeship: 3 Scottish Highers at grade BBC or above, or 2 A‑levels at grade BC or above, or NC Built Environment/Foundation Apprenticeship Civil Engineering.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to learn, positive mindset, can‑do attitude.
