Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Site Agent to work with Energy at HWUP, National Grid in North London. Providing site‐based leadership for all construction and installation operations; promoting Health & Safety management, construction best practice and management of site construction resources in close liaison with the Project Manager. Will work loosely with Engineering and Site Management Team.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Site Agent:

  • Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
  • Produce Construction Phase Plans (H&S Plans), Risk Assessments, Work Package Plans (Method Statements) and Task Briefings in line with Murphy procedures. Ensure these are updated on a regular basis and their requirements are communicated and understood by all project personnel and any others who may be affected.
  • Ensure workplaces under their control have effective systems, arrangements and supervision for providing a safe workplace.
  • Ensure all project personnel have the necessary experience, training and knowledge to carry out the duties allocated to them.
  • Drive a positive delivery culture by means of promoting best practice in safety, quality and environment.
  • Attend and support pre‐start morning briefings.
  • Organise and lead pre‐construction meetings with supply chain to ensure works are fit‐to‐start.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly meetings with site team regarding safety, progress, expenditure, costs and programme.
  • Lead and record subcontractor weekly progress meeting, tracking KPI's, safety performance, deliverables, commercial actions.
  • Participate in, and positively promote, the Murphy Culture Development Culture (leading to Zero Harm).
  • Establish close working relationship with site supervision to ensure cost‐effective use of labour and plant.
  • Lead weekly 4WLA sessions with project delivery team.

Senior Site Agent must have an engineering background with minimum of HNC/HND in Civil Engineering. Package responsibilities include predominantly Formwork Reinforced Concrete (FRC), Steel Frame and Cladding and fit‐out of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Hall. Provide technical support to project delivery team (engineering and site supervision teams). Establish and maintain close working relationship with buying department to ensure compliant and advantageous procurement terms. Develop project delivery sequencing and programme with Project Manager.

Minimum HNC/HND Civil Engineering or equivalent, ideally a degree. SCS Card (Black or White) and SSSTS/SMSTS. Understanding of NEC4 Contract. Experience working on substations is preferable but not essential. Proven experience in large civil engineering projects. Knowledge of company policy and procedures including safety and environment related issues. Ability to produce, implement and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures. Successful experience as a section / trades foreman. Demonstration of knowledge and practical application of the set up and day‐to‐day running of a Construction site. An understanding of the commercial issues in undertaking a large scale construction project. Experience in leading self‐delivered projects. Able to read drawings and construct to them, work to a programme and keep written (and preferably electronic) records. Must be able to drive.
