Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Buyer to work in our Ground Engineering team, based out of our London office. Murphy's Ground Engineering Division offers pile design, value engineering and bespoke solutions, directly delivered by our team of specialists. We have a proven track record of successfully delivering both minor and major works across a range of sectors. We also offer leading Building Information Modelling (BIM) capabilities, investing in digital solutions for new rigs, remote diagnostics and computer monitoring systems of rotary pile construction.

Responsibilities

  • Providing a comprehensive procurement service for all projects in the regional operating unit.
  • Deliver a consistent procurement approach across all projects within the regional operating unit from work winning / pre-construction stage.
  • Demonstrate best overall value for money in the procurement recommendations.
  • Ensure a robust negotiation process is applied in the engagement process.
  • Ensure contract arrangements and package details are comprehensive and protect the business in its dealings with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Contribution to Murphy leverage at every opportunity.
  • Ensure decisions are not focused upon lowest price but overall best value for money.
  • Develop an accredited and structured supply chain that is aligned to the regional operating unit demand and overall Murphy strategy.
  • Consistently monitor the market place to ensure awareness of pricing trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Continuously seek out and assess new supply chain members to meet regional operating unit project demand.
  • Monitor the supply chain performance, workload and financial status to protect the corporate position.
  • Develop the supply chain, products and innovations that bring cost and/or buildability benefits.

Skills & Experience

  • Develop an accredited and structured supply chain that is aligned to the regional operating unit demand and overall Murphy strategy.
  • Consistently monitor the market place to ensure awareness of pricing trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Continuously seek out and assess new supply chain members to meet regional operating unit project demand.
  • Monitor the supply chain performance, workload and financial status to protect the corporate position.
  • Work with procurement and project teams to drive continuous improvement processes for supply chain members.
  • Develop and forge closer relationships with the strategic supply chain to encourage a culture of inclusive interaction and learning and an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.
  • Integrate with other regional operating units to co-ordinate the procurement of the strategic supply chain, providing regular information on the regional activities.
  • Establish close relationships with internal clients and project teams.
  • Work harmoniously as a member of the procurement team.
  • Attend regional supply chain events to promote and sell Murphy and encourage teamwork.
