Electrical Installation Apprenticeship Programme
As an Electrical Installation apprentice, you will gain an industry recognised Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installation whilst gaining valuable on-the-job skills with one of our long-serving experienced teams.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and repair electrical services as part of our infrastructure projects
- Be safety conscious and able to develop a good understanding of health & safety procedures and safe working practices
- Read, interpret and execute drawings, schematics, blueprints and electrical code specifications to see layout of commercial electrical equipment installations
- Test electrical and equipment and parts for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
- Install, repair or replace AC/DC motors and drives, transformers, motors, starters, relays and hydraulic and gas electrical controls
- Install, repair or replace electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and line assemblies, lighting and alternative electrical parts
- Install, repair or replace generators and industrial storage batteries
- Perform preventive maintenance and testing of electrical systems (including power distribution equipment)
- Install electrical circuits, panels, conduit, protective devices, switches and equipment required to meet applicable standards
- Work on electrical failures and replace components wherever production time is affected
- Correct connections and wiring on equipment controls to prevent harm and hazardous conditions
- Conduct preventive and maintenance programmes and keep maintenance records
- May install, maintain and calibrate industrial equipment and connected devices
- Comply with industry standards and procedures, safety manuals and safety rules
Qualifications
What qualification will I receive through the apprenticeship? As an apprentice you will follow the Installation & Maintenance Electrician Level 3 apprenticeship standard which takes 4 years to complete. At the end of the apprenticeship you will achieve an NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Installation. On completion you may apply to the Joint Industry Board (JIB) for grading as an electrician.
Placement and travel
This role will be based out of either Kentish Town, London or Cannock, Staffordshire offices. Due to the nature of the role you will be expected to travel to various sites, and this may also involve working away. A full clean UK driving licence may be required.
What you need to be considered
- GCSE Maths and English at grade A*-C / 4-9 (or equivalent)
- Over 18 years of age
- No previous experience required, but you should be ready to learn, with a positive mindset and a can-do attitude
- Eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit if applicable; sponsorship is not provided
