Murphy is recruiting for a Utility Surveyor to work with Murphy Applied Engineering based out of our Golborne Office but with nationwide travel. Our engineering teams represent a multi-disciplined range of skills, adding value across all our sectors and pushing the boundaries of digital construction, engineering innovation and design to deliver intelligent, sustainable, and economical engineering solutions. Under the banner of Murphy Applied Engineering, our in-house teams include civil, structural, mechanical, geotechnical and process engineers. They design both permanent and temporary works for projects in all our locations and are a trusted source of expert advice for both Murphy colleagues and external customers.
A day in the life of a Murphy Surveyor?
- Install and verify site control networks.
- Carry out topographical surveys and setting out activities.
- Conduct terrestrial laser scanning and manage point cloud data.
- Support utility survey teams with data capture, QA, and coordination.
- Maintain clear and accurate field records and documentation.

- Willingness to travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
- Confident using GNSS equipment, total stations, and laser scanners.
- Experience working with survey software such as N4CE, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or Leica Cyclone.
- UAV experience (LiDAR and/or photogrammetry).
- Familiarity with machine control systems and earthworks volume management.
- Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with project teams and subcontractors.
