Murphy is recruiting for a Design Manager to join our growing Infrastructure team, delivering water infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects in partnership with Thames Water, as part of the AMP8 framework. Murphy is a long-standing delivery partner to leading water clients across the UK and Ireland.

A day in the life of a Murphy Design Manager:

  • Lead design matters on Trunk Mains portfolio of projects on AMP8 Thames Water Utility Limited framework.
  • Produce design briefs for permanent (and temporary) works, defining the design scope.
  • Lead technical reviews of submissions from our design partners.
  • Ensure conformance to the Murphy Design Management procedure.
  • Manage day to day interface between design and construction teams and maintain adequate records.
  • Review design progress according to programme and contractual requirements.
  • Lead constructability reviews.
  • Support Senior Design Managers, consultants and multi-discipline engineering teams to deliver the design solutions to schedule and budget to a high standard of professional competence.
  • Management of design change to support best outcome for the project.
  • Support with management of risk and opportunity in design.

  • Member of a recognised engineering institution. Incorporated Engineer or Chartered and/or working towards membership.
