The Students’ Union Arts team are looking for Duty Managers to support shows and events at The Edge across the academic year. Societies and groups run multiple events in The Edge every week, supported by the SU Arts team. Events include theatre shows, open mic nights, music events and postgraduate events, amongst many others. There is also opportunity to support wider SU events such as trips and Summer Ball!
By joining our growing Front of House team, this is an exciting opportunity to support the arts and student events at Bath, build event management and communication skills, and receive specialist training and development opportunities.
The Duty Manager role ensures that events run smoothly and successfully whilst supervising a team of Ushers. They are responsible for:
- Providing excellent customer service and overseeing the audience, including checking tickets and dealing with any queries and problems.
- Co-ordinating with Event Organisers and Duty Technicians, ensuring clear communication around any changes or issues to resolve.
- Making sure the spaces are safe and ready for shows and conducting pre- and post-show checks.
- Reporting relevant feedback to the SU staff team.
- Briefing the Ushers and other crew on event needs.
- Upholding Health & Safety requirements and responding to any emergencies that may occur and overseeing evacuations, in coordination with Security and Campus Services.
- Communication and coordination with the Social Enterprise team for the refreshments offer including taking payments and stock control.
- Helping to oversee additional non-theatre events to make sure they work smoothly and safely, working with Event Organisers.
