The predicted salary is between 15.3 - 15.3 £ per hour.

Salary CW3 £15.30 per hour (including holiday pay).

Hours: On average this will be 17 hours per week between October and June (25 weeks not including University vacation periods).

Interviews will take place on MS Teams on 9 and 11 September.

Start date: 5 October 2026 (this date will be dependent upon HR timelines for processes of onboarding).

We are looking for a postgraduate research/doctoral student to join The SU to support our research and insight work planned for the coming academic year. There are several exciting research and engagement projects related to the student experience, which The SU will be working on this year. This role will be key to supporting the Data, Research & Insight Manager with the planning, delivery and reporting of these projects. Examples include:

  • Mystery Shopper schemes in our outlets
  • Focus groups and interviews
  • SU Student Advisory Panels pilot
  • Writing reports and delivering presentations for different audiences including SU staff, Officers and students, working with the SU Marketing Team to ensure all reports and presentations comply with The SU branding guidelines
  • Supporting the Data, Research and Insight Manager with admin tasks related to research and insight where required

Key skills or experience which will help you with this role:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail
  • Experience of gathering feedback through a variety of ways
  • Analytical skills in qualitative and quantitative data
  • Experience of creating data visualisations including infographics
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office particularly Word (for report writing), Excel (for data analysis). Power BI is a bonus but not essential
  • An understanding of confidentiality and data sensitivity
  • An interest in The SU and the student experience

Please note: All data and research projects (including questionnaires, notes, data, analysis and reports) will remain the property of The SU. You must be a registered doctoral/postgraduate research student at the University of Bath for the whole of the academic year 2026/27 to apply for this role.

Hours required: On average this will be 17 hours per week between October and June (25 weeks not including University vacation periods). For a job share, this would average at 8.5 hours per week. However, hours may vary week to week depending on where in the cycle a project is allowing for flexibility. Hours are mostly during the standard working week 09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday, however there may be occasions where activities such as focus groups happen out of these hours to aid student engagement.

Location: This role will be based in person in 1 East (Claverton Down Campus), some working remotely may be possible with agreement from your line manager. There may be occasions when working from other University of Bath locations may be required.
