WECIL are recruiting for an enthusiastic Sessional Support Worker to deliver regular one-to-one sessions to Disabled Children and Young People (some with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour) in Bath and North East Somerset. This may be in the family home or the community. The ideal candidate will be confident in working with Disabled Children and Young People in a 1:1 environment. Regular travel across BANES is required.

Person Specification:

  • Experience of working with Disabled children and young people
  • A strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by Children and Young Disabled People with the ability towards showing sensitivity towards these needs.
  • A high level of understanding of Safeguarding and Protecting of Children and Young People
  • The ability to work independently and use your own initiative
  • Experience of face-to-face work with Disabled children and young people
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to converse with a range of young people with varying communication needs
  • The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with Disabled children and young people
  • Experience of engaging with Disabled Children and Young People to create a fun, safe and supported environment
  • The ability to travel across areas within Bath and North East Somerset

Desirable requirements for the role:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Social Model of Disability
