Responsibilities

  • Research and investigate local and community-based issues, events, and trends.
  • Conduct interviews with citizens, activists, policymakers, and local changemakers.
  • Write well-researched articles, features, and reports adhering to journalistic integrity and factual accuracy.
  • Collaborate with editors for feedback, mentoring, and editorial refinement.
  • Uphold journalistic ethics, neutrality, and accuracy in all work.
  • Submit articles on deadline and maintain clear communication with the editorial team.
  • (Optional) Contribute multimedia content such as photographs, short videos, or audio snippets.
  • Stay informed about regional developments, civic matters, and public policy.
  • Promote civic engagement and social awareness through storytelling.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, Political Science, or related disciplines.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid research ability and curiosity about local/community issues.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable using Google Docs, email, and CMS tools.
  • Experience in multimedia reporting or grassroots journalism is an added advantage.
  • Previous journalistic experience is appreciated but not mandatory—dedication and willingness to learn matter most.
