We are looking for a Front Of House Manager at Firestarter in the heart of the City. Location: Blackfriars, City of London (EC4), E1 7EZ. Salary: Up to £44,000 per annum excluding tronc.
Firestarter is a live-fire grill at The Star by Liverpool Street, where most things cook over charcoal, and flavour comes first. It’s food that plays with fire: lamb cutlets, sea bream, prime rib, cauliflower with black garlic all cooked fast, served with flair, and designed for our guests to kick back, eat well, and feel something. Our tone is confident but relaxed. No white tablecloths, no faff, just big flavours and good vibes.
You’ll oversee service standards, lead pre-opening training, and help define the Firestarter experience. Working alongside the founder & head chef, you’ll be responsible for bringing the restaurant floor to life, ensuring every guest feels seen, every table has energy, and your team is confident, proud, and having fun.
What We Offer:
- A structured induction and supportive operations team
- The chance to grow within an expanding independent group where your voice is heard
- Annual team trip abroad
- 25% staff discount on food and drinks across all 9 of our venues
- Company pension scheme
- Workplace where culture comes first, not corporate red tape
- Bonus scheme based on clear KPIs
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Inspire, coach, and lead the FOH team to deliver fast, friendly, and confident hospitality that feels effortless.
- Be the heartbeat of the floor: reading the room, setting the pace, keeping hospitality standards high, and spirits higher.
- Create and deliver a Firestarter Service Playbook: training materials, service rituals, and guest standards that define our style.
- Lead onboarding and service training pre-launch.
- Work closely with the Head Chef and the GM to ensure the kitchen–floor relationship is seamless.
- Manage service briefs, guest feedback, and floor standards daily.
- Support menu and cocktail knowledge sessions, ensuring staff know the stories behind what they’re serving.
- Coordinate service flow, reservations, and floor management to hit targets on speed, covers, and experience.
- Ensure guests are greeted, seated, and served with warmth and flair, never formality.
- Anticipate needs before they’re voiced; turn tables quickly without rushing the vibe.
- Build regulars, especially from the after-work and weekend crowd, and know them by name.
- Handle feedback personally and proactively. Every interaction should strengthen the brand.
What You’ll Bring:
- 2 years minimum experience as a Floor/Restaurant Manager or equivalent in a high volume venue.
- A deep understanding of Open Table and the grid!
- A deep, intuitive feel for hospitality and guest connection.
- Proven experience leading a high standard of service teams in London restaurants, bars, or hospitality venues.
- The confidence to set a tone, to make service feel cool, not corporate.
- Passion for mentoring others and turning good servers into great hosts.
- A natural sense of rhythm on the floor, reading energy, pace, and people.
- Organisational skill to build systems, not just run shifts.
- Ambition to develop within the group, we want you to be our next General Manager!
