Thermo Serv Ltd is looking for an experienced
Domestic Gas Engineer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role is based in London and involves working within occupied residential properties, including social housing environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of domestic gas boilers and central heating systems , ensuring all work is completed safely, professionally and in accordance with Gas Safe requirements, relevant regulations, manufacturer instructions and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and reactive repairs to domestic gas boilers and central heating systems.
- Diagnose faults and identify appropriate repair solutions.
- Complete gas safety checks and associated works in accordance with current regulations and industry standards.
- Carry out plumbing and heating repairs, including pipework and hot water systems.
- Attend emergency and out-of-hours callouts when required.
- Work safely in occupied residential properties, maintaining a professional and respectful approach towards residents.
- Explain faults, repairs and any remedial works clearly to residents.
- Complete accurate job records, reports, photographs and certification using a PDA/digital job management system.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within required timescales.
- Identify additional works and safety concerns and report these through the correct company procedures.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools and equipment and manage van stock responsibly.
- Comply with all company health and safety, safeguarding, customer service and operational procedures.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Valid
Gas Safe registration .
- Relevant domestic ACS qualifications, including
CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1 and CKR1 , or equivalent.
- Proven experience working as a Domestic Gas Engineer.
- Strong technical knowledge of domestic boilers, central heating and hot water systems.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good plumbing skills, including domestic pipework and associated components.
- Experience in servicing, maintenance and reactive repairs.
- Experience working within social housing or similar residential environments is desirable.
- Good understanding of current gas safety, health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily workload effectively.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good IT skills and the ability to use a PDA/mobile job management application.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, particularly when working in occupied homes.
- Experience working with housing associations or local authority contracts.
- Experience with low-carbon and renewable heating technologies, such as air-source heat pumps .
- Additional plumbing and heating qualifications.
- Experience working to contract-specific procedures, KPIs and service-level requirements.
