Electrical Maintenance Technician in Burton on the Wolds

To help enable us to strengthen and further develop the technical capability within our manufacturing suites, we are seeking Maintenance Engineers to join our growing site.

What you'll do:

• During maintenance incidents, you will effectively engage problem solving and lean manufacturing techniques, identifying the true root cause of the issue and implementing corrective actions.
• Drive improvements across the maintenance team to improve efficiency, hold high standards of 5S, eliminating or reducing waste and/or non-value add activities.
• Actively participate in upgrading and improving equipment or engaging in projects.
• Complete important documentation, including highlighting errors or bad practices and making suggestions for improvements.
• Lead the progression of documentation (e.g. Change Controls, Validation documents, etc.) through to completion.
• Utilise external resources where appropriate to acquire services/components.
• Generate and complete the appropriate documentation (e.g. Purchase Orders, spares requests, quotations, etc.) with approvals.
• Hold accountability and responsibility for ensuring all personal activities are reliably closed on time, against agreed targets (e.g. PPM, Deviations, Change Controls, Training, etc.).
• Complete training to ensure a current aseptic license is kept up to date.
• Write clear and accurate maintenance instructions.
• Assist with the organising and delivering of training and/or instruction of engineering and non-engineering staff.
• Provide cover for team members, including Technical Specialists and Engineering Coordinators as defined.
• Understand emergency procedures and follow safe systems of work.
• Ensure compliance with EHS and security policies and procedures, rules, signage and instructions at all times.
• Conduct timely reporting and support investigation of all accidents, near misses and breaches of rules.

The role requires a multi-skilled engineer, with both electrical and mechanical competencies, with a stronger emphasis on the mechanical skillset. The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach, with a strong focus on safety, risk assessment, and effective problem-solving, particularly in managing day-to-day maintenance activities and responding to breakdowns. Demonstrable expertise in fabrication and welding is essential.

A minimum qualification of NVQ Level 3 is required, with a preference for candidates progressing towards or holding an HND, alongside at least 5 years of experience within a manufacturing environment. As a proactive and logical person, you can use problem solving, utilising the company’s lean philosophies. Be available to support Manufacturing through the Engineering Call-Out process. You are compensated for this. The ability to work to critical timelines and effective interpersonal skills are key to high level performance in this position. As we work within a COMAH environment, alignment to these standards is critical. Flexibility around time of work is required; the general requirement for this role is 8 am to 4 pm, however the expectation is that the successful candidate works around the time of work when the business requirements arise.

• Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficient in statistical analysis, root cause investigation, and problem-solving techniques.
• Strong project management abilities and experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience with engineering documentation, specifications, and change control processes.
• Expertise with CAD software, manufacturing systems, and data analysis tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in cleanroom environments and comply with required PPE/gowning procedures.
• Available to work flexible hours and provide on-call support as needed.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and manufacturing software systems.
• Experience with automation, controls, and process validation preferred.
• Knowledge of equipment qualification and calibration processes.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Ability to mentor and train manufacturing personnel.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
