The Opportunity

The Regional EHS Manager is responsible for leading and driving the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) program across all European projects within Thermo Systems’ mission-critical portfolio. The role provides regional leadership, governance and technical oversight for all construction, integration, commissioning and energization-related safety activities, ensuring safe execution across all project phases within mission-critical and data center environments. Acting as the central point of coordination for EHS across Europe, the individual will support local project safety teams through the development of standards, procedures, templates, governance frameworks and escalation management, while promoting a strong proactive safety culture across all projects. The role will work closely with project delivery teams, commissioning teams, construction management, clients, subcontractors, and regional leadership to ensure activities are executed safely, consistently and in compliance with all applicable regulations and client requirements.

Drive regional EHS strategy, governance and execution across multiple mission-critical projects, ensuring safe delivery of construction, integration, commissioning, and energization activities across Europe.

What We’re Looking For

Key Responsibilities – Regional EHS Leadership

  • Lead and manage the regional EHS program across all European projects.
  • Establish and maintain EHS standards, procedures, governance frameworks, and best practices aligned with construction, commissioning and mission-critical environments.
  • Exercise stop-work authority where unsafe conditions are identified and lead escalation and resolution of critical EHS risk across regional program.
  • Act as the primary regional escalation point for EHS-related matters across all active projects.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to local project safety teams and operational delivery teams.
  • Drive consistency in EHS execution, reporting and compliance across all projects and regions.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture focused on planning, accountability, risk mitigation and continuous improvement.
  • Measurable accountability/KPIs for regional EHS performance and compliance.
  • Promote a behavioral safety leadership, workforce engagement, near-miss reporting, safety observations etc.

Key Responsibilities – Construction, Integration & Commissioning Safety

  • Provide oversight and support for construction, integration, commissioning, energisation and live testing activities across the regional portfolio.
  • Govern & Review and support RAMS, LOTO procedures, switching procedures, energisation plans, electrical safety and high-risk activity controls.
  • Ensure robust safety controls are implemented for high-risk activities associated with mission-critical construction and commissioning environments.
  • Support safe management of temporary systems, live environments, phased handovers, and operational interfaces.
  • Drive measurable improvements in safety performance through effective tracking and management of leading/lagging EHS indicators.
  • Participate in project safety reviews, commissioning readiness reviews, audits and critical activity planning sessions.
  • Support project teams in managing subcontractor safety performance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities – Governance, Compliance & Assurance

  • Develop and maintain regional EHS templates, procedures, checklists and reporting standards.
  • Conduct regional audits, site inspections, and safety reviews to ensure compliance with company standards, local legislation and client requirements.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Track regional EHS KPIs, trends, observations, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable European construction safety legislation and country-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to maintain alignment on EHS expectations and standards.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) Governance.

Key Responsibilities – Training & Competency

  • Support competency development and EHS awareness across regional delivery teams.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to project teams on EHS planning and execution.
  • Identify gaps in EHS processes, competencies or documentation and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Support development and rollout of regional EHS training programs, toolbox talks and awareness initiatives.
  • Promote behavioral safety and continuous learning across all projects and teams.
  • Support lessons learned integration loop back into standards, procedures, and training.

Education & Experience:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent advanced health & safety qualification.
  • IOSH Chartered Membership (CMIOSH) or equivalent professional accreditation preferred.
  • Recognised construction safety certifications relevant to data center environments.
  • Electrical safety and LOTO training/certifications desirable.
  • Experience within data center, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other mission-critical sectors highly preferred.
  • Additional regional safety qualifications and country-specific certifications advantageous.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience within EHS leadership roles supporting construction, commissioning, or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive experience supporting construction, integration, commissioning, energisation and live testing activities within data center or mission-critical environments.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety management, electrical safety, LOTO, energisation procedures and mission-critical construction activities.
  • Experience developing regional EHS programs, governance frameworks, standards, and assurance processes.
  • Proven ability to support and influence multi-disciplinary project teams across multiple concurrent projects and countries.
  • Strong understanding of European construction safety legislation and mission-critical project delivery environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management and escalation management skills.
  • Safety audit/assurance programme experience (regional governance capability).
