Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Analytical Chemist to join our collaborative Quality Control (QC) team in Heysham. In this role, you will analyze raw materials and other samples using validated analytical techniques, assist in investigating quality issues, and sample incoming raw materials according to our procedures. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for someone with meaningful work experience who is eager to learn and grow.
Responsibilities:
Analyze materials using validated analytical techniques with high accuracy and precision. Perform duties following quality system requirements, associated procedures, and working instructions. Address issues and take necessary actions to prevent delays in material approval. Achieve required standards of precision and accuracy while meeting departmental target times. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all work and observations as per the quality system. Update the Laboratory Information Management System to ensure timely release of quarantined materials. Maintain instruments in good order, report defects Write procedures and conduct regular assessments. Work safely, adhering to the company\’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policy. Conduct departmental safety audits on a rota basis. Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe work environment, adhering to 5S housekeeping principles. Handle chemicals safely and report any unsafe procedures, practices, or incidents. Ensure proper disposal of waste materials in line with agreed protocols. Update the status of each raw material in the electronic database. Take on additional tasks as needed. Ensure all processes comply with relevant regulatory requirements, including environmental and health and safety standards such as ISO 14001 & 9001.
- Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry qualification (prefer HNC or higher)
- Experience of working in a laboratory environment
- Ability to understand and respond to written and spoken English

- Experience with analytical instrumentation.
