Ventilation Project Engineer to join the Projects Team at Thermatic Technical FM. As a Thermatic Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical delivery and execution of small works and supporting the delivery of larger M&E projects within healthcare and other critical environments. This role is ideal for a senior ventilation or HVAC engineer looking to transition into project delivery. The successful candidate will take ownership of small works and support larger projects, while still maintaining a level of hands-on involvement where required. The role is not a full-time site-based engineering position but a balance of technical delivery, coordination, and project support.

Hours & Location of Work:
Main location - This role will be flexible, based at our Head Office in Salford, Manchester but will also require travel to sites across the United Kingdom. Regular hours of work - Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm - 40 hour working week. Whilst this is our company standard working week, our engineers require "out of hours" support, so an aspect of this is to be expected.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Small Works Delivery
- Undertaking hands-on installation, modification, and fault-finding works where required, particularly on small works and during key stages of project delivery
- Managing and delivering small works projects from site survey through to completion
- Ventilation upgrades, AHU repairs, M&E alterations
- Planning and coordinating labour, materials, and site activities
- Managing subcontractors and suppliers
- Technical Support to Senior Project Manager
- Supporting larger M&E projects
- Providing technical input during installation, commissioning, and snagging
- Reviewing drawings and ensuring compliance
- Technical Delivery & Compliance
- Ensuring compliance with HTM 03-01 and relevant standards
- Installation, modification, and fault-finding on AHUs and ventilation systems
- Reactive Support (Limited)
- Health & Safety
- Creating and working in line with RAMS, permits, and CDM requirements
Responsibilities:
- Strong practical experience working with ventilation and HVAC systems, including AHUs and extract systems.
- Strong understanding of HTM 03-01, SFG20, CIBSE guidance, and other industry standards.
- Knowledge of CAFM systems and operational reporting tools.
- Health & Safety, including RAMS, Permit to Work, and COSHH.
- Understanding of facilities contract models and commercial implications.
- Proven experience in critical or specialist HVAC/ventilation environments.
- Background in delivering works in high-risk or regulated settings (e.g., healthcare, labs, or manufacturing).
- Experience working within KPI and SLA frameworks in an FM or technical services contract.
- Demonstrated success in client relationship management and team leadership.
- Budget management and cost control experience.
- Experience with compliance reporting and technical audits.
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
- IOSH Managing Safely (NEBOSH desirable).
- Recognised technical certifications (e.g., BOHS P601, P604 desirable).
- HVAC/Ventilation trade background.
- Full UK driving licence.
