We are looking for a Commercial Gas Installation Engineer to join the Projects Team at Thermatic. We're seeking a hands-on, knowledgeable and experienced Commercial Gas Installation Engineer to join our specialist Projects division. This is a client-facing, national role, supporting the design, installation, and commissioning of commercial gas equipment across the UK. The role will require frequent travel and regular overnight stays, often at short notice, to support project delivery.

About Thermatic Technical FM: We provide full UK coverage across Hard FM services to large commercial clients. Our mobile engineers are supported by account teams at our Head Office, delivering reactive and planned maintenance, as well as project installations.

Hours & Location of Work:
Salford, Manchester (Head Office). Location: Fully Remote. Travel: Frequent UK-wide travel and regular overnight stays.
Responsibilities Include:
- Carry out large-scale commercial gas installations in line with specifications and industry regulations.
- Survey, install and commission commercial HVAC and gas systems on customer sites nationwide.
- Install a wide variety of systems including warm air heaters, boilers (small and large kW), AHUs, cabinet heaters, and associated flue and pipework systems (copper, steel).
- Produce and complete commissioning documentation, including technical reports and site calculations.
- Attend and support client meetings and maintain effective relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Deliver projects on time and identify technical opportunities for future works.
- Maintain a high standard of compliance, safety, and quality throughout all installations.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Subcontractors, and office-based teams to ensure smooth delivery.
- Support the training and mentoring of junior engineers and engineer's mates.
- Assist in scoping and quoting for additional works through accurate site assessments.
Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
- CSCS Trade Card for Commercial Gas Engineer / Fitter
- Full set of commercial gas qualifications (e.g. CPA1, CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, CODNCO1, CIGA1, ICPN1, COMCAT1-5, CORT1, CDGA1, TPCP1/1A)
- IPAF certification
- Basic plumbing and building material knowledge
- Demonstrable experience on construction sites
- Asbestos Awareness certification
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
- OFTEC certification
- LPG qualifications
Required Skills:
- Ability to work independently and confidently on client sites nationwide.
- Strong knowledge of gas systems and installation processes across HVAC applications.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills with both clients and internal teams.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Skilled in producing technical documentation and understanding compliance frameworks.
