The Performance Nutritionist is dedicated to offering elite nutritional support to the Women’s Academy, prioritising our PGA players. As an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team, the individual will collaborate to ensure players and coaches receive the best services to achieve the club’s objectives. The successful candidate will also support the department to create a positive and competitive environment that fosters player development, teamwork, and success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver a nutrition education, screening, and support pathway to promote female athlete health across the Women’s Academy.
  • Provide individualised and specialised support to the Women’s Academy players and their parents.
  • Work with the Women’s 1st team nutritionist to create a world class nutritional support system throughout the Women’s.
  • Coordinate with Head Coaches, performance staff, catering and medical team across the Women’s Academy to implement and educate on the nutrition strategy.
  • Collaborate with the MDT staff to ensure the players’ physical conditioning, nutrition, and overall well-being are supported.
  • Maintain a comprehensive, indexed database of work conducted with athletes and coaches.
  • Collaborate with department staff to ensure all players are safeguarded against and educated around doping control practices.
  • Flexible working hours, 20 hours per week, aligned to the requirements of the women’s academy.
  • There may be a requirement at times to support the Women’s First Team Nutritionist, as well as engaging in meetings and reviews with the wider nutrition department across the club.
The PersonQualifications
  • Minimum of Graduate Registration status with the BDA’s Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register, or eligibility to register within the next three months.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Sports Nutrition or Sports Science, or currently in the final stages of completing the qualification.
  • ISAK Level 1 Accreditation.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety.
  • Completed UK Anti-Doping’s ‘Introduction to Clean Sport’.
Experience
  • Practicing in the sport and exercise field with exposure in women’s and youth sport.
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary performance team in the delivery of services to elite youth athletes, preferably females.
  • Delivering 1:1 consultancy with female athletes, alongside designing and implementing group nutrition education and practical sessions to youth athletes.
  • To build meaningful, strong strategic relationships with club staff, players and their parents/guardians.
  • Demonstrating high professional standards when representing the club.
  • High levels of competency required to use specialist nutritional analysis software (Nutritics) as well as Microsoft’s suite.
  • Strong graphic design and content creation skills are beneficial for educating and engaging the athletes in both 1:1 and group settings.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Applying consultation techniques and behaviour change models to help players succeed.
  • Ability to analyse a range of athletes in relation to their performance needs, and develop, implement and evaluate bespoke nutrition support for each case.
  • Understanding of the needs of elite youth athletes and coaches in a high-performance environment.
  • Ability to implement innovative ideas and influence athlete and coach support programmes.
  • Able to communicate complex data in terms that are easily understood by a wide range of audiences, including players, coaches, parents, catering and wider staff team.
