Compass Associates are proud to be working in partnership with a state-of-the-art clinic who specialises in low-dose radiotherapy. The clinic is pivotal in treating non-cancer conditions. This innovative service is not widely available in typical local clinics, yet it has been used and studied internationally for many years. The treatment uses much lower doses than cancer radiotherapy, aiming to reduce pain and disability while carefully balancing out benefits and potential risks to their patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce routine and complex treatment plans in accordance with relevant clinical protocols.
  • Explain the treatment to your patients to help them make informed decisions about their treatment, including management of acute and long-term side effects.
  • Use manual dexterity skills to position patients accurately and acquire appropriate images for analysis prior to delivering treatment.
  • Use in-depth knowledge of anatomy to interpret and analyse various images of the human body.
  • Develop technical and manual dexterity skills for operating the equipment accurately and confidently.
  • Develop a rapport with your patients and their carers to gain their cooperation and trust.
  • Keep accurate, computer-based records.
  • Attend inter-professional team meetings.

Essential Requirements

  • Experienced Therapeutic Radiographers currently practising between Band 5-7 level.
  • Senior Radiographers and Superintendent-level candidates.
  • Radiographers seeking flexible or reduced-hours working.
  • Return-to-practice clinicians.
  • Semi-retired clinicians seeking sessional, part-time, or fractional roles.
  • HCPC registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer.
  • Commitment to safe, patient-centred practice.
  • Ability to work within defined protocols.

The service delivers low-dose radiotherapy (LDRT) for benign conditions and operates within a specialist, patient-focused environment. The clinical environment is:

  • Consultant Clinical Oncologist-led.
  • Supported by Medical Physics and Radiation Protection.
  • Protocol-driven and conservative in scope.
  • No on-call commitments.
  • No unscheduled overtime.
  • No high-throughput acute oncology workload.
  • Monday to Friday working hours.

Essential Requirements

  • Desirable experience: Previous UK radiotherapy experience.
  • Orthovoltage radiotherapy experience.
  • Experience or interest in low-dose radiotherapy and benign indications.

As our client’s service develops further and patient numbers increase, there may also be opportunities for involvement in governance, service development, and broader responsibilities for individuals who wish to take on a more senior role in the future.
