Overview
We are seeking trustees who share Thera\’s commitment to supporting people with learning disabilities to live the lives they choose. As a trustee, you will work alongside the executive team, bringing your skills to benefit the entire board. You will help ensure Thera Trust offers more opportunities to more people with learning disabilities and contribute to shaping strategies that make a real difference.
What We Are Looking For
- Senior professional expertise in areas such as Adult Social Care, Healthcare, IT/Digital, or Social Housing.
- A strong commitment to our person-led approach and Thera\’s vision.
- A willingness to promote the rights of people with learning disabilities.
- Strategic perspective with the ability to prioritize and assess company performance and risks.
- Ability to build relationships and work as part of a team.
Previous trustee experience is welcome but not essential; applications from individuals without prior trustee roles are encouraged.
Responsibilities
- Help define and support Thera\’s purpose, vision, and goals.
- Guide the development of Thera\’s structure and operations for financial sustainability.
- Shape strategy and ensure organizational impact.
- Bring insights from your expertise to the board, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Support quality improvement and organizational development.
- Leverage networks to support Thera Trust’s work.
About Thera Group
Thera is a group of non-profit companies supporting around 3,000 people with learning disabilities across the UK. Led by Thera Trust, a registered charity, the group provides a range of services including support at home, community activities, financial advocacy, housing, employment, and training. The governance structure emphasizes local focus, control, and leadership by people with lived experience of a learning disability.
