What does a Support Worker do?
The role of a Support Worker is to ensure the people we work with are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives. Supporting someone with a learning disability isn’t just about personal care, it is about supporting people to enhance, and broaden themselves and what they do physically, emotionally and socially. This could be through learning new life skills such as cooking or actively seeking out new choices and opportunities, engaging in education and social interactions.
What experience do I need?
You do not need to have worked in supported living before to be a good Support Worker. If you are caring, kind and patient with a zest for life and a good sense of fun we want to hear from you. Ideally you will already hold a Level 2 Health and Social Care Diploma but if not, we will support you to achieve this. You will need to have great communication skills, both speaking and listening and be comfortable making decisions. A basic level of English and Math is also required.
