ThePlaceToBe are proud to be partnering exclusively with an ambitious agency as they look to appoint a Strategy Director. This isn’t a “write a deck and step back” strategy role. This is about shaping brands, influencing rooms, elevating thinking, and doing it at serious scale. Think creative firepower meets brand consultancy thinking. They work with recognised brands, the kind with legacy, complexity and big ambition, helping them define positioning, unlock growth and create work that actually means something. This hire matters.

About the role... You’ll sit at the heart of the agency’s thinking. Partnering closely with the wider SLT, you’ll define and elevate the strategic product, internally and externally.

What you’ll be doing day to day...

  • Leading brand positioning and proposition projects
  • Owning strategic direction across major client accounts
  • Bringing clarity to complex brand challenges
  • Turning insight into sharp, commercially powerful narratives
  • Shaping pitch strategy and influencing high-stakes new business conversations
  • Mentoring and elevating junior strategists
  • Being the strategic voice in the room - with clients and creatives alike

You won’t just respond to briefs. You’ll challenge them, reframe them, and strengthen them. You’ll have the autonomy to make things happen, but also the backing of an MD who genuinely values growth and relationships.

About you... You’re a thinker and a doer. You’ve likely spent 8+ years in strategy within a creative agency or brand consultancy environment.

What we're looking for...

  • Leading high-value brand strategy projects
  • Confident presenting to senior stakeholders and C-suite
  • Know how to balance creative ambition with commercial reality
  • Can distil complexity into clarity (and make it sound effortless)
  • Thrive in rooms where the stakes and expectations are high
  • You care about craft, insight, and building brands that last.

This is a pivotal hire for an agency that’s scaling with intent. If you want to shape the strategic direction of a business, not just deliver against it, this is that kind of opportunity.
