Summary of the Role: At Maze, we're building AI-powered vulnerability management as generative AI reshapes what's possible in cybersecurity. The team is small, fast, and growing. We need someone who makes that growth possible by owning the operational backbone of the company. This is not a coordinator role. It's a full-ownership position: everything that makes a company function at Series A and beyond: financial reporting, board packs, compliance, people ops, off-site logistics, and everything else that comes up every day. You'll work closely with the VP Operations, take the full breadth of operational work, and run it. Build systems where none exist. Get the company ready for future growth. Free the founding team to do what only they can do.
The right person brings rigour from wherever they learned it — consultancy, finance, ops at a scale-up — and knows what startup speed feels like. Strong commercial intuition. Not scared of a problem they've not seen before. Wants to build something from the ground up and cares about getting it right, whatever the task.
Your Contributions to Our Journey:
- Build the operational foundation for scale: Take ownership of the systems, processes, and day-to-day operations that keep Maze running and growing; design what doesn't exist, improve what does, and free the founding team to focus on what only they can do.
- Set the rhythm of the company: Own the cadences that keep a fast-moving, fully remote team aligned: board packs, all-hands, exec meeting prep, offsite planning. Build the reporting infrastructure that means everyone always knows where things stand.
- Drive operational leverage through AI: Experiment with what AI tooling can do across operations; find ways to automate and accelerate so the team stays lean as we scale.
- Turn institutional knowledge into infrastructure: Codify how Maze operates; build the processes, registers, and dashboards that mean the company runs on systems that outlast any individual and hold up as we grow.
- Drive financial clarity for the business: Own the financial operating rhythm: financial model, budget vs. actuals, cash position, and investor-grade reporting. Contribute directly to investment processes preparation. Give leadership the numbers they need to make good decisions.
- Build a proactive compliance and people ops function: Design and run the programmes that keep Maze compliant and its people well-supported as we scale; stay ahead of obligations rather than reacting to them, and ensure every person who joins or leaves has an excellent experience.
What You Need to Be Successful:
- Proven track record of reliable execution: You keep commitments, hit deadlines, and maintain a high quality bar whether the task is a board pack or a laptop order; you're the person others rely on to get things done.
- Structured rigour combined with real scrappiness: You've worked somewhere that demanded accuracy and high standards — whether consultancy, finance, big 4, or a well-run ops team — and somewhere that taught you to move fast and figure things out yourself. Ideally both in the same job.
- High agency: You identify what needs to exist, build it, and move on; you're comfortable making calls without being told exactly what to do and you don't need a brief for everything.
- Builder's mindset: You're energised by the opportunity to design something from scratch, whether that's a compliance calendar, a vendor register, or the way the company runs its all-hands; you measure yourself by what exists after you that didn't before.
- Financial literacy and analytical confidence: You can read, maintain, and contribute to a financial model without being a trained accountant; you understand what the numbers mean and can translate them clearly for a leadership team and investors.
- Curiosity about AI as a work tool: You look for ways to use AI to do your job better: automating the repetitive, accelerating the routine; you bring that curiosity to every part of the role.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience in cybersecurity, technical B2B SaaS, or enterprise software; the deals, customers, and compliance landscape will click into place faster.
- Familiarity with the tools: Linear, HubSpot, Deel, Vanta, DocuSign, Google Sheets.
Why Join Us:
- Ambitious challenge: We're using generative AI, LLMs and agents, to solve some of the most pressing problems in cybersecurity today; you'll be building the operational backbone of a company at the cutting edge of that work.
- Expert team: We are a team of hands-on leaders with experience at Big Tech and high-growth scale-ups, including teams behind multiple acquisitions and an IPO; the people you'll work with are exceptional and will push you to do the best work of your career.
- Impactful work: Cybersecurity is a force for good. Helping to stop cyber attacks protects organisations and the people inside them. The company you're helping to operate is doing work that matters.
- Build an AI-native company from the ground up: We're designing how an AI-native operations function works with a blank sheet of paper. How we run meetings, track the business, manage compliance, and scale the team: all of it is up for reinvention. You'll set the template.
- Clear path to Leadership: For someone who does this role brilliantly, the role is built to grow and so is the person in it.
