ABOUT UNICORN, INC.

At Unicorn Inc., we channel rare, slightly magical energy into helping people live more active lives, one ridiculously fun product at a time. We bring disruptive brands to the UK, Europe and South Africa, focusing on gear that doesn’t just perform, but brings joy to people’s lives. Our partners are agile, growth-hungry and unafraid to shake up their categories. From our home base in Scotland, with teams in Amsterdam and South Africa, we back this up with unrivalled operational capabilities, omni-channel expertise and a willingness to step into the unknown. We’re a small, dynamic crew that believes in hard work, creativity, growth and having fun while we’re at it.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Sales Director who lives for momentum and knows how to turn growth goals into reality. You’ll be at the helm of our sales strategy, leading the charge across three key regions: UK Retail, European distribution, and our South African team. You’ll shape how our brands come to life in stores, strengthen relationships with partners, and guide a talented crew who love what they do. Your mission: keep our partners winning, our customers inspired, and our pipeline strong as we unlock new opportunities in every corner of active lifestyle retail.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and execute sales strategy across all Sales channels in the UK, Europe, and South Africa to deliver ambitious revenue and growth targets.
  • Forecast market trends, analyse performance, and implement data-driven planning strategies that expand market presence.
  • Own and grow our Amazon and direct-to-consumer channels, including setting strategy, optimising listings and campaigns, managing partners and agencies where relevant, and delivering profitable, brand-aligned online sales performance.
  • Own UK retail sales and manage key specialty and national accounts, building strong, long-term relationships.
  • Manage and grow the European distributor network, ensuring consistent performance and brand alignment.
  • Lead and support the South Africa sales team, fostering accountability and regional growth.
  • Identify new channels, partnerships, and commercial opportunities to accelerate expansion in active lifestyle categories.
  • Set clear targets, track progress, and drive sales performance through ongoing coaching and development.
  • Implement effective sales processes, reporting tools, and performance standards to ensure operational excellence.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team that embodies Unicorn’s values of creativity, growth, and hustle.
  • Collaborate with leadership on pricing, margin optimization, and long-term sales planning.

Relationships, Operations & Industry Presence

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retailers, distributors, event partners, and strategic accounts.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for national and key account partners, providing insight, guidance, and support.
  • Oversee forecasting, budgeting, pricing, and sales reporting to ensure accurate, efficient decision-making.
  • Partner with operations to align stock flow, forecasting, and product availability with customer demand.
  • Work closely with marketing to coordinate campaigns, product launches, and retail activations that drive brand visibility.
  • Represent Unicorn and partner brands at trade shows, events, and industry gatherings to build market presence.
  • Maintain strong awareness of trends shaping the active sports industry and identify opportunities to evolve with them.
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration between sales, marketing, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • 10+ years of experience in Sales.
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team.
  • A strong understanding of UK running retail, European distributor models, and international sales management.
  • Exceptional relationship building and communication skills.
  • Confidence working with numbers, targets, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Must have a good attitude and not afraid to ask questions.
