Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm
Job Description: This Product Design Engineer role focuses on delivering high-quality, customer-facing products with a strong emphasis on design, usability and manufacturability. Working closely with designers and mechanical engineers, you will bring engineering rigour to creative concepts, ensuring designs are robust, scalable and production-ready. As a Product Design Engineer, you will develop concepts for parts, assemblies and mechanisms, rapidly converting ideas into CAD models for analysis and prototyping. You will control design data quality throughout the development process and produce accurate BOMs, part drawings and assembly documentation. You will also support prototype builds, work closely with in-house production and external suppliers, and assist with transferring designs into full production. Continuous improvement and resolving customer-reported issues will be a key part of your responsibilities.
Skills & Experience: To succeed as a Product Design Engineer, you will ideally have:
- Strong 3D CAD experience (preferably SolidWorks)
- Experience designing extrusions, castings, fabrications, welded and bolted assemblies
- Background designing mechanisms for external or automotive applications
- Knowledge of materials and finishes for automotive or consumer products
- Experience with product lifecycle management systems (e.g. SolidWorks PDM)
- HND / Degree (Level 5 or 6) in Engineering Product Design or a related discipline
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently
